Duplicate printer sharing?

by buggy23 . Updated 15 years, 6 months ago

Hi All,

Am fairly new with the printers here but wanted a little help to install them..

All our printers are maintained on and by one local server.

Problem is one guy in our office (he’s picky…) wants there to be two printers setup (for the one HP 4350 printer) to show up on his PC’s printers and faxes.

I guess you could say it’s like duplicate printers!

Bare in mind all of our printers are NETWORK printers! Is there anyway I can do this without adding a secondary IP? We already have one that maintains and shows up all the ink levels/paper levels and so on.

He wants one printer to print from tray 2 for letters and the other printer to print from tray 3 for default A4 print jobs (we don’t use tray 1 at all).

How do I go about adding this on the print server (running Win 2k3 r2)? I understand I can write up a script to add these to the 10 or so PC’s that need them (once I figure out how to add the printer…) – but I just cannot figure out how to add them onto the print server.

Do I have to add a secondary printer driver for it? I would’ve thought they would share off the one already there?

Tuesday morning. I’m having a massive brain fart over this!

Your guys’ help would be awesome!
