DVD drive reads dvds as CD and Wont run them

help me! i was just playing morrowind and then my dvd drives stopped and now neither of my disc drives run dvds but now they only read as cds both can supposed to run DVDs
theyre CD-RW/DVD and a DVDRAM ive tried evrything i have tried plugging them back in swapping them around checked the registry installed them in a fresh OS (which by the WAY im using XP home edition) so can anybody help me?
