e-mail sharing

Sorry if it’s a dummy question. I need to share the same POP3 account among several workstations. Server is NT4 and stations are win98. What would be the best solution to do this? To share internet connection we use WinGate. For HTML it works fine, but it doesn’t want to do so for mail.
I may consider migrating to Linux as a server, will it be easier then or harder?
