Easy way to backup laptop user files?

I’m looking for a way to keep my laptop user’s files backed up, and also syncronized as they come and go on the network. I’m thinking of using folder redirect for the desktop users to place their “My Documents” folder on the server.

For the laptop’ers however, I’d like a creative way that will be transparent to them and also keep their files in sync. I know I could map a server directory for each user which would be easy for me to backup, but then they need to remember to copy their important files over all the time. Has anyone solved this yet? Running Veritas Backup Exec on Win2000 Server, and all the users have W2K Professional. Thanks!
