Email recipient list limits

What would you consider a good email recipient list limit for a corporate? MS Exchange standard has a preset limit of 100 recipients per email. This can be increased, but what are the pros and cons for doing this. At what level would our server end up on a blacklist?

Finally, what alternatives are there for corporate communications that would allow internal recipients to not be included in the 100 recipient limit?
