Enable external CD-ROM – driver in EBD

by rexx6605 . Updated 24 years, 9 months ago

I am trying to enable a Goldstar CD-ROM from within the Emergency Back-up Disk. The model # is GCD-R540B.

If it helps, this drive will play a CD with voltage only applied to it without the bus cable attached.

What is Kanji mode?

I have tried including the driver on Drive a:\ but to no avail. This includes editing the Config.sys file and the Autoexec.bat file ad nauseum.

There is no original manufacturer’s disk. The driver was initially used from DOS 6.0. I want to just use Dos 7.0 that is provided with W98.

The notes I have in my Palm Pilot are as follows:
PC-Cd rom in config.sys
devicehigh /l:E 1,26912 acercd.sys /d:mscd001

Cd rom in autoexec.bat
mscdex.exe:mscd001 \v

I know the format of this info is wrong, but not how.

Is there a way to re-write the EBD source file?

Thanks,
