Encapsulation Unit or Logical Grouping?

I am a Networking student and I have been asked to identify the encapsulation unit or logical grouping present at each of the OSI layers. I am not sure what I am being asked to identify. Is it the various protocals used at each layer or something else? Any clarification would be helpful. Any links that may demystify the topic I would appreciate. Thanks so much.
