As a repair tech for about 25 school districts, I’ve seen tons of Epson Color stylus printers come through here, the most common problem seems to be clogged printheads causing white banding in either the color or black print. Recently One of our districts sent 4 Stylus Color 850Ne and 2 stylus color 740 printers for repair, complaining of white banding in the print. Typically a new cartridge and 5-10 cleaning cycles clear the most stubborn clogs, however, these resisted even that, I’ve tried drawing the ink out with hot water, soaking and flushing the heads with denatured alcohol solvent, filling empty tanks with alcohol solvent and allowing them to sit in the head for several days, nothing seems to work. the banding pattern is not always the same, as you would see if it was specific nozzles not operating, or a logic board or wire fault.
is there any solution aside from replacing the very expensive print head that will take care of this problem????
