The modem (or other connecting device) is already in use or is not configured properly.
That’s the error I keep getting on my mother-in-law’s desktop w/ XP Pro SP3. It suddenly won’t connect through her modem and it keeps giving her this error. I know it’s not a SP issues as I put the SP on in Feb and this error started happening a couple of months later.
I can dial out to any given phone through the modem using Hyper Terminal. I’ve tried reinstalling her old modem; swapping it out w/ one that I knew worked; I’ve tried changing the COM ports; and now she is using her BlackBerry as a modem at it is giving the same error but she IS able to get out via the BB on her laptop.
I’ve searched all over the web and tried various fixes and nothing has worked. Has anyone out there experianced this error before?
