Error in LAN-connection properties Windows 2003 server

Following errors is suddenly introduced on Windows 2003 server, without any changes, except fully patched from MS:
When viewing the properties for the LAN-connection, it does not show the name on the NIC-adapter, and only shows the “Client for Microsoft Networks”, not the installed protocols. When trying to add a protocol the following error is shown: “Could not add the requested Component, The error is: The system can not find the file specified” .
The system is running on TCP/IP, and IPCONFIG-command shows the right Configuration.
For testing I have tried to make a VPN-configuration, where the configuration (TCP/IP) is shown correctly.
