Bear with me for a sec: Earlier today, while actively on the internet, I came across an issue which caused the load screens to stop and, subsequently, show an error loading any pages. I contacted the cable company expecting it to be the modem’s problem, and after the technician walked me through their troubleshooting, we determined the modem not to be the cause. Instead, I was told to contact the manufacturer as the computer was no longer responding to the internet.
Now, while on with the manufacturer I came across the device manager and for some reason my ethernet driver had been removed. Never happened before, and of course the modem is tied into the computer via ethernet connection. The network driver was installed and working correctly but apparently the ethernet driver itself was gone (showing a “?” in the description).
Any ideas as to how this may have happened, what i might have done, or what I can do to prevent this from occurring again? I now have to download the driver from the internet onto a disc in order to update the computer. Thank you for your help, sorry if this is the wrong place to be asking.
