event notifications

I’m in the process of setting up displays at our helpdesk center to show at-a-glance system status of mission critical systems. One of the frequent issues we have are with print queues on the win2k3 servers. Does anyone know of a program or way of providing simple notification of when a print queue on the server becomes not responsive?
