I am running windows xp pro and when I execute the netstat -n command I usually have anywhere from 100-150 connections, most consisting of the loopback 127.0.0.1:6999 address/port when surfing the internet. I have done multiple
scans with Pc-Cillin, ad-aware, a-square, spysweeper and spybot and none find any malicious software. When I run spybot it will get half way done and then shutdown my computer, it also has the same effect with spysweeper – gets halfway through then shuts down unexpectedly out of no where. I turned off automatically restart on system failure and the problem still exists. When my netgear router is connected many websites will time out, when it is disconnected it will not time out websites but will still run slow or slower than it should. If anyone could give me some insight on how to get rid of all these loopback connections I would greatly appreciate it.
