Exchang server

I am a minister at a church and our system is st up on an exchange server. I have been using a tower PC and recently purchased a new laptop I was hoping to be a replacement for it. I have tried everything I can think of and cannot get my new laptop to comunicate with my exchange server. I am sure there is an easy answer, can anyone please help me?
