Exchange 2000 Instant Messaging Config

We are considering deployment of Exchange 2000’s Instant Messaging Service, but we need to know if we can limit users’ “buddy lists” to in-house personnel and those clients we specify. I’ve had no luck on MS TechNet – any whitepaper, article, etc. w/this information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
