Exchange 2003 and Mobile Device Issue

by jdunigan . Updated 18 years, 9 months ago

I am having a problem remote synchronizing 2 mobile smartphones to an exchange server running Small Business Server 2003.
The phones are using Windows Mobile 2003 and Windows Mobile 5 with internet access on both. Both are getting similar errors, leading me to believe the problem is on the Exchange Server. I created a certificate and the certificate works with Outlook Web Access and Remote Web Workplace. I can go to the Outlook Mobile Access on each phone with no problem. But I cannot sync with Outlook using ActiveSync. The process is stopped when I enter the username and password. It thinks I am giving it the wrong user/pass but I am not. I have tried every variation of the username that is possible, and every variation of server names. (i.e. ?user@company.local?, ?//domain/user? and just ?user?) I have downloaded the documents that spell out step by step how to configure the servers, workstations and mobile devices. I have followed the instructions to the letter. Everything used to work until a hard drive issue caused the owners to call us to fix it. The problem was that Drive C was full (because of the Exchange Logs) we fixed that problem, but ever since, the mobile devices have not synched.
Here are the facts and steps I have taken to fix the issue.
 Exchange Server 2003 ? SP2 is installed.
 Email is hosted by a third party company. We have set up POP3 connectors to connect to the external email. Email is working fine.
 There was no external DNS host. So we created (company.dynalias.com) and pointed it to the Exchange Server. I can successfully login to the server using terminal services with this address.
 At first I was getting certificate errors. I created a new certificate and now the certificate error is gone but it still does not synch remotely.
 I have gone through the Internet and Email Wizard several times and have tried resetting Directory Security settings, one at a time, but no effect on the Windows Mobile Devices.
 Enabled IIS to support both Kerberos and NTLM authentications.

Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
