Exchange 5.5 IMS and POP3 errors

by jwoller . Updated 24 years, 8 months ago

I’m recieving several NDR messages saying:
The following recipients did not receive the attached mail. Reasons are listed with each recipient:

guest@10.1.30.22
MSEXCH:IMS:HOME:HOME:SUMMER 0 (00120345) Too Many Hops

It like the IMS is e-mailing itself with some guest account and failing.

In the event viewer under the application log. Event ID 13003 Logon on attempt from 10.1.10.1 failed due to unknown username or password.

There are also always two looping messaging ID prior to this.

In the Security log you can see the failure attempt from the guest account and the machine is the actual server.

I was able to resolve this by adding the server IP address in the routing restriticion tab under the IMS. The problem is that my POP3 clients cannot send outside the company only internally.

How can you setup routing restrictions so that pop3 clients can send outside the company?

When I remove the routing restrictions mail operates normally but I’mflooded with these NDRs.

any help will be appreciated.
