Exchange 5.5 IS

Hi, I’m trying to get off E5.5 as fast as I can but I have a sick server that likes to reboot about every other day due to a SCSI RAID issue. Basically, I have about 5GB of free space on the partition. I have since moved all mailboxes off to another 5.5 server. My question is, can I just rename the priv.edb, leave the pub.edb and restart the IS and have it generate an empty priv.edb instead of doing a defrag on it?
