Hi, I Hope someone can help me here, we have a win2003 SBS server, In the event log , event id 9688 shows that the logical size of the database for exchange is 39gb and is approaching the size limit of 40gb. I noticed this some weeks ago, and rather than just ‘up’ the size of the exchange database and give in to users, we have run an archiving exercise and decreased the overall size of our users mailboxes, old emails are stored in pst files on another server. In total we must have archived around 12gb of emails from all the users mailboxes. So could someone explain to me why the event id 9688 is still saying we are at 39gb and approaching the limit of 40,I would have thought that after removing a lot of data the online defrag that runs nightly would have created more space.
I would appreciate any help on understanding this, and thanks in advance for any answers posted.
