Gentlemen,
I have a very frustrating issues with SBS 2K3 and exchange. It seems completely random, and so far I have been unable to replicate it, dont read any further unless you like headaches! 😉
We noticed a few days ago that some customers were complaining about not receiving replies to their emails, when we looked at our host servers mail queue, (a hosted system running postfix on debian), we saw over 40 messages sitting in there. We cannot for love or money get these messages to send to our exchange server, there is no pattern (or doesnt seem to be), the emails all have intact, rfc compliant headers, there are no spam filters in the way, only a pix 515 at the host site and an asa 5505 in our office, and I have disabled smtp fixup on the pix, and esmtp inspect on the asa. The messages vary from plain text to html, with and without attachments… we have sent mails for our test gmail account with the same result, some get through and some dont, we have sent the same messages to another sbs server at another location, and they all went through with no issues.
And there you have it, you now know as much as I dont!
All questions and suggestions will be greatly appreciated, good luck!
