Expanding Storage on HP Proliant ML350?

by tscislaw . Updated 17 years, 2 months ago

We’ve maxed out the storage on one of our HP Proliant ML350 storage servers. I’m looking for options to expand storage on this unit.

Here’s what we have:

Proliant ML350 G4p Storage Server
Windows 2003 Standard Edition SP2
Smart Array 642

Physical Drives:
SCSI Array A
2- 36.4GB HDD
SCSI Array B
4- 300GB HDD

Logical Drives:
Array A
Logical Drive 1 27.5GB RAID 1
Logical Drive 2 7GB RAID1

Array B
Logical Drive 3 1.2TB RAID 0
———–

All disks are set as “basic” disks in Windows.

Any suggestions on expanding the Logical Drive 3?

Could I hang an HP StorageWorks Modular Smart Array on the RAID card and go from there?

Will the fact that the disks are setup as “basic” disks give me a problem?

Any way to convert that Logical Drive to RAID 5 without losing data or having to recreate the data?

Thanks much.
