Explorer.exe – Application error

Windows 2000 workstation – When I start the computer (very little in startup) I receive the following error explorer.exe – Application error “0x77fcbb05” referenced memory at “0x000000038”. Norton Antivirus is current and the computer has been scanned. I also ran a chdisk /r, but it did not help. Any ideas?
