Extended Mapi in Office 2003

Former platform: Windows 2000 SP4; MS Office 97.
Current platform: Win2K SP4; MS Office 2003 Pro.

I recently upgraded my Office suite to MS Office 2003 Professional. A feature I used a great deal, printing envelopes in Word using my Outlook contacts, no longer works. The error message I get is:
“Address book failure: “Unspecified error”, Check your mail setup. You must have Extended MAPI version 1.0 or higher to use this feature.”

I’m on a stand alone PC, not using exchange server. Outlook is not even my default e-mail client. I merely use Outlook for the contacts and calendar feature.

Help! I need a resolution.
