external hardrive problems

well my brother accident ly hit the power button whil i was in the middle of a game, i tried to restart my computer with no problem but now for some reason, my device manager dosnt detect my external harddrive the light comes on but i dont get the “bong” that you’d get when you plug in a usb i have already tried search for hardward updates but with no luck, so i need to know what to do next
