I am working on a dell dimension 3000 running windows xp that will not boot up. It hangs up at the windows loading screen with the blue bars going across. No new hardware or software has been added just came home and tried to start computer and it wouldn’t boot. Will not boot to safe mode either, it hangs at system32\drivers\agpCPQ.sys momentarily and then goes to blue screen error message that says a problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage. The video driver has failed to initialize. Technical info:STOP: 0x000000B4 (0x8362AA08,0x8359B000,0x8359A000,0x00050000)
Ran dell diagnosics showed no problems. Replaced CMOS battery, checked connections, if I boot to installation CD on repair and do check disc will it wipe out my data? Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can save data and reload OS or repair existing OS? Responce much appreciated!
