faulty d900 camera

Hi people,I have a samsung d900 wich camera doesn’t want to work.everytime i choose to take a photo the thinking screen appeares and about 30 seconds later it says preview error.Any idea if it needs a firmware upgrade or should i just go and chuck it in the river?
