Faulty forwarding email address

by ndveitch . Updated 16 years, 10 months ago

Hi There,

I have a situation where my email comes into our front-end server and then is routed to the office servers. My ISP has setup a new email address for the guys in my office and their email isn’t coming through. I don’t want to mess with any settings as everything else is working except for the new address.

I spoke to my ISP who told me that the email is reaching the front-end server and is not forwarding correctly to my office server. Because the email is reaching the front-end server my ISP tells me that they can’t help past this point.

I checked the event logs on my front-end server and I found this,

Event Type: Error
Event Source: MSExchangeTransport
Event Category: SMTP Protocol
Event ID: 7010
Date: 2009/09/02
Time: 09:24:54
User: N/A
Computer: FEServer
Description:
This is an SMTP protocol log for virtual server ID 1, connection #720. The client at “196.41.2.178” sent a “rcpt” command, and the SMTP server responded with “550 5.7.1 Unable to relay for ###@###.com “. The full command sent was “rcpt TO:<###@###.com>“. This will probably cause the connection to fail.

I was wondering if there are any easy ways to find out why this is happening. All my email from my other domains are working perfectly, it is just the new one that isn’t forwarding through.

I feel there is something I haven’t done correctly on my side, i just don’t know how to check for this. I have tried looking for information on the web but nothing has helped so far.
