I recently installed Fedora Core 6 to my HP Pavillion n5470 laptop after some testing with Knoppix and FC6 Live CD appeared quite successful. While I think I have ironed out the NIC problem (I appear to have missed something on install), I’d like to know more about Yast and apt. Everything I’ve read says yum is buggy – it wouldn’t act right last install – what is more I am of the understanding (perhaps mistaken?) that I can use Yast and/or apt if I prefer.
1. How do I go about getting and installing either/or?
2. Which is more “user-friendly” – at least as far as that term applies to Linux?
Also, I would prefer to see file extensions listed with the file, as I can in Windows. I learn them much more easily if I see them everytime I cruise my files. Is there a way to do this?
Thanks to all!
