File server migration from Windows 2K to 2K3, not enterprise edition

by brandon.dusterhoft . Updated 16 years, 11 months ago

I have a job of migrating our file server from a Windows Server 2000 box to a Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition box. I would like to use MS’s File Server Migration toolkit, but I need enterprise edition to set up DFS consolidation.

I’m under the impression that if I don’t set up DFS consolidation, all users that use the file servers’ links and mappings will be wrong because that won’t be migrated. Is that right? Is there anything I can do to make it seamless for the users if I’m only using W2K3 Standard x64 edition?

Thanks,
Brandon
