File Server Migration Toolkit

I need to transfer data, shares and permissions from a Windows 2000 member server to Windows 2003 member server. I would like to use the File Server Migration toolkit, but I want to be sure that after I transfer the files to the new windows 2003 server that my users can still temporarily use the original file server until I do some testing on the new one and remap their drives. Anyone work with this tool that knows the answer?
