FireWire in a P2P network?

I am a college student researching FireWire topology. If it is used in a P2P network, can a user access ANY peripheral attached to a host computer? What I am asking is if I have a video camera in my office that is connected to my computer via FireWire, can another user on the network access the camera and view the interior of my office without me knowing?
