Floppy Drive Error (40)

I upgraded a PC with a new motherboard, RAM, CPU and case. Used the old floppy, hard drive
and CD. On boot get message..
Floppy Drive Failure (40)
The light doesn’t come on or anything and I can’t read the drive at all.
