Forgotten password/changed?

I have a pc that needs work done to it but can’t get past the Windows Password! I know what I set it up as – someone changed it. Nobody remembers who or what or why. It is sitting now asking for the windows password and I can’t get past it!!! This is a Windows 2000 Pro. Any help? I don’t want to blow the machine away.
