freezes

for no reason win 2000pros2 freezes pent3 450, 500mem all updated and found scandisk it seemed to help alittle but still.when i open outlook exp use a linkin oe or explore?
have about 10 programs running intask bar bar on top for sound card,office tool bar.
can you help have you runn into this before?
