From development to consultancy

Hi, i am working as a software / web developer (employee) for 2 years now. I had a B.E. in computer engineering before that period. I would like to make a change in my job, in such a way that i don’t sit all day developing, but instead i have a mix between developing, and let’s say offering IT consultancy to clients. I wonder what’s the correct way to be followed in order to achieve that shift; should i start searching for such job openings (any well known companies in the consultancy field?), or should i first pursue a certification in a specific field to reach an advanced level in order to become a consultant in it afterwards… any advice from people who already made such shift would be appreciated
