FTP Client not working through Squid Proxy

I have a pc with Ubuntu 8.4 Desktop & Squid Proxy configured in it. Everything is working fine but FTP is not working at all. I have tried using FileZilla,WinSCP. The FTP works fine without the proxy. i can’t figure out what could be the problem…pls help
