FTP server problem

I have an IIS FTP site running on windows 2000 server. There is a problem I noticed the other day. A directory on this server had 2030 files but when I remotely log on to this server, I get list of just 727 files on that same directory.

Also, sometimes when I refresh this view, the number of files change but never reaches 2030. I tried different FTP clients to see if I get the same result and none of them showed 2030 files.

This problem is baffling me. some help?
