Hello there, my friend recently gave me a GeForce Fx 5200 (256MB) since i dont have a video card, and integrated graphics dont have pixel shader, transforming/lighting, etc. The card has Pixel Shader 2.0+, which i need. The problem is actually using the card.
I tried putting in the card, but it just went to a black screen… and stayed there for 30 mins, so i took it out, pre-looked up drivers, and installed them. I RE_TRIED the card, started to load, but froze, so I re-started, loaded finally, but nothing on screen, so i tried back on my original integrated monitor, OK< IT WORKS!!! NOT. i just had my regular integrated graphics, no pixel shader/lighting/other stuff. i inserted the driver cd, updated the driver, restarted once again, drivers old, re updated, and restarted AGAIN!!! still nothing.
I still only had use over the integrated, but i made a little progress, it sees the card, updated the drivers all the way, but i cant use it now. I tried the display options, but seinf how i never had a video card before, i still dont know much in that department, so i tried messing around, only to restart my computer another 3 times, and i FINALLY got the card to work, only to find that its display settings are CRAZY, and look like COMPLETE CRAP.
It wont go above 600 X 480 resolution, and eveything is WAY pixelated at that. No background image, and i cant access my old settings. As you can see, i have tried it on my own... A LOT, and i need your help. I just want to be able to install the card, have a DECENT resolution, and be able to use my pixel shader without corrupting my system, rebooting a mimllion times and updating EVERYTHING!!
Is there any easy way to do this? I feel so ashamed that i cant use a single VIDEO CARD, so ANY help at all would be GREATLY appreciated.
P.S. my PC specs are pentium 4 2.5 GHz processor, 1 gig ram, win XP pro, 10 gigs left on HD, and tryin to use GeForce FX 5200 256MB video card. (sorry for long help question)
