Getting SID Information..does not exist

I’m hoping someone here can help me.

I’m messing around at home with server 2003, trying to just learn the thing. But, I’m having a problem that so far no one has been able to help with.

I created a user name on the server, and logged on with my other machine running XP. It logged on fine. I even created a roaming profile and set a home path that comes up when I log on.

My problem is that none of my policies apply. Someone said to go to the XP machine and “gpupdate” then “gpresult”. The gpresult always does “getting SID information” then times out when “info: the policy object does not exist”.

All I did was install 2003 on my machine, make a user, and log on with my XP machine. Is there something i’m missing here?
