Getting Win 2K to turn off the machine

I have recently upgraded (read: reformat/reinstall) a mchine from Win 98 to Win 2k Pro. Now, when I shut down the machine, it does not automatically power down, as it did in the past. Is there any way to re-enable this feature? Or is it unavailable with the NT based OS?
