OK. I want to be able to link together two or more OUs in AD.
Scenario is : W2K3 Server SP2 with XP SP3 clients.
OUs set up are DEVICES, which have sub OUs DESKTOPS, LAPTOPS. I have set up an OU called SOFTWARE DISTRIBUTION and added several GPOs with packages assigned to each GPO. i.e Adobe Acrobat Reader 8.1.2 GPO which has Adobe Acrobat 8.1.2 package assigned to it using vendor msi. Permissions for this GPO are for only those clients who are members of the Adobe Acrobat Reader 8.1.2 Global Security group.
I can assign the Adobe GPO to the DESKTOPS OU and as expected, the application gets delivered to the XP client on boot up. However, what I want to do is assign a large volume of GPOs for software distribution to desktop and laptops. Is it possible to link OUs together ? What I mean is, can I link the SOFTWARE DISTRIBUTION OU to the DESKTOPS OU so that GPOs linked to SOFTWARE DISTRIBUTION OU get applied to the DESKTOPS OU and thus deliver the packages according to the relevant Security Group membership ? I could link each software GPO individually to the DESKTOPS OU and the LAPTOPS OU but this seemed rather long winded ! Any assistance you can provide would be gratefully apprecited.
