Hi there,
I was wondering if someone out there can help me. You see, I have got this
problem with my network. For some unknown reason, it just hanged sometimes.
So I have to switch it off and on again.
I have got an NT 4 SP6 PDC and an NT 4 SP6 BDC. The BDC is there to do file service for 5 Mac clients. I have neither Exchanger nor IIS installed.
I have got 1 8-port 10/100
Netgear FS108 switch. I have 2 16-port 10/100 Netgear hubs. I have 5 Mac clients, 25 Win9x clients, 2 NT WS 4 client, a FreeBSD box for all Internet related stuff, 1 Ricoh network printer.
I disabled network browsing for all but the PDC. All servers, the 2 NT WS, and 1 of the Mac client are connected to the switch. All the Macs run OS 9 or above.
I runa proprietry FoxPro based database from the PDC for all the PC clients. The Macs are for the design department. So they have large files they normally work on.
I ran out of idea on what cause the network to hanged/stoped. I thought it may be the computer browser facility under NT that cause it, so I had it disabled except for the PDC.
Any ideas guys?
Thanks a lot.
