Hanheld Computers Experiencing Connectivity Issues

Where I work part time,we use handheld computers to do inventory. Lately, production has stepped up for the fast approaching holiday season. With us being busier I have noticed, and so have others that occasionally our handheld devices will not connect into the network or they suddenly lose their connection.What could be causing these intermttent connectivity prblems?
