Hard Disk Crash

by asher2jk . Updated 18 years, 2 months ago

I believe my hard disk has crashed.. one fine afternoon i opened my desktop as usual.. and on the start came some fatal error.. boot ini not found.. i thought big deal.. will format the C drive and install windows again.. ran the bootable cd… was expecting the usual steps.. but to my surprise it showed three different options.. don’t remember exactly what they were am giving here the gist
1. Windows is already in the process of being upgraded.. select this
2. To install a new copy select this.
3. To exit without doing anything press F10

Selected 1, gave me a blue screen asking me to check my virus stage something like that.
Selected 2, gave me two options.. repair or new copy
Selected repair first and that gave me command prompt as usual.. tried to find my drive C.. and gave me the prompt “drive not available” and my panic started..
restarted the computer.. went through the same process but selected install new copy this time.. here it showed all my partitions have been erased.. have got one lump of partition which i can’t select.. am stumped as to what to do..
Is there anything i can do or have to ask for help from professionals.. need an answer fast..
working on xp by the way
