Hard disk help

hi.

I need to get data back from my hard disk,a maxtor D740X.I’ve just got a new hd,a 120gb so i placed the d7 as slave.I damaged it ,dunno if the bootsectors and so on or if it’s a mechanical damage ..plates?..,when i was holding it in my hands and the power cable came off..i heard some clicks and then **crash**.So now the situation:when i connect the hd(the settings are correct !),the bios doesn’t recognize it,and i hear those damn clicks and strange sounds.I have also freezed the d740x but no way:what may i do?consider i MUST get that files back and i don’t want to shell out the money professional people asks for the job.
