Hard drive dissappears on warm boot

XP pro O/S Computer with 4 drives which have worked since the computer was built about 2 years ago unfailingly. About 1 month ago the Secondary hard drive (Slave) (H:\) dissapears on warm boot, but always comes back on Hard boot, consistant over 200 boot test. It is unvarying. Checked stttings on hard drive, new ribbon, checked cables, etc. etc. Many test have been devised and run. It does not seem to be Win. Reg. problem because when I boot in safe mode to DOS prompt after warm boot drive is missing; hard boot it is present. Checked all settings in BIOS; esp. Raid/SATA/IDE tried all options, but warm boot/hard boot issue still present. Drives are C: (D: = DVD; E: = CD) F: ok; G: ok; H: is the problem child.

Any suggestions, strange ideas, wild thinking, anything. I am at my technical endpoint and will try anyting.

Doug
