I am the Sys Admin at my organization (only IT person – smaller organization). My computer is coming up for replacement soon and I would like to propose a laptop to replace my current CPU. We have VPN setup so I can get into our network from home for support when I’m not there. I currently do this from my home computer which is pretty slow and used by the entire family. I think being able to do this from a work laptop would be beneficial.
How many of you have a laptop as your main computer for your job? Do you think this is a good idea? What are some of the advantages/disadvantages? What do you recommend purchasing for this solution?
Since laptops are a bigger investment than CPUs I would like to propose this prepared. Any information from other IT pros would be very helpful. Thanks!
