having problems w/ compaq computer at start up

When i turn the computer on it freezes at the Compaq screen. Down at the bottom there are some F options and none of them will work. Prior to this the computer would freeze if it sat for too long and it would have to be turned off at the power button. I’ve tried unplugging the power supply and waiting 5 minutes and then plugging back in and trying to start it up and nothing is working.

any suggestions?
