HELP- 20 gig IBM harddrive dead!

by scott . Updated 24 years, 6 months ago

Hi,

Whoever can help me get my data off of this is a genious.

I have a two year old IBM 7200RPM Harddrive that has
failed me. It makes 3 longs click noises followed by two short
click noises that repeats over and over again. I installed a new
harddrive with the IBM as a slave with the hope that I could
pull some data off. I was able to acsses the drive for a
momoment but it would freeze up explorer trying to access
the drive and would make the same pattern of click noisesover and over again. It would even do it as a slave on load
up and would delay the starting of Windows on the new
drive.

Does anyone know how to recover data off of a bum drive? I
have heard that you can put it in the freezer. Does this work?

I am desperate to get the data off of this drive. Can anyone
help? Does anyone know of any tricks?

Thanks

Scott
