I am somewhat of a technophobe and have recently moved into a house with CAT5e sockets. I have checked in the roof space and all appears to be working as the green indicator lights are switched on.
Simply this; I have a standard desktop PC with one broadband connection into my study. This room also has the cat5e wiring. I would like to know if I can simply plug in my desktop computer in any of the other rooms with cat5e sockets?
I do not have a router yet and it has been suggested that I would need one??
The previous owner was also able to stream media to the outside area of the house for entertaining purposes, but not sure how he did this?
If someone can identify with my problem and provide simply explained solutions…that would be fantastic
